MENSCHEN INSIGHT

MENSCHEN INSIGHT Recommended is a distance between tine and field surface or sward sole of 2 – 3 cm. With pulled tedders, turning the crank to the right increases the distance of tine from field surface and turning to the left decreases the distance. Additionally, rotor distribution angle or inclination can be varied in four positions between 13 and 19 degrees. If, for instance, during the first bout of turning it is found that the grass has to be loosened from the swath as aggressively as possible, a steep setting of the rotor distribution angle is recommended, together with a higher pto speed (400 -500 rpm). For turning drier forage, it makes sense to select a shallower distribution angle with reduced pto speed (350 rpm). These distribution angles are set without tools via hole plates at every rotor. With some models, rotor setting angles are set by eccentric screw. better distribution performance. The standard rotor has six tines, this could be called the all-rounder. The rotor with seven tines is especially suitable for grass silage, in other words with the few rotors a big working width is achievable. This can allow turning just once per mower cut. Two characteristics of the tedder come with no setting and no maintenance required. Each hinge point attached to the square profile frame features an Octo- Link eight finger clutch. These clutches enable power to be transferred in every rotor position without any power train damage. The clutches are absolutely maintenance-free and this means no lubricating is necessary. These also applies to the gearbox for each rotor which are completely filled with grease and so lubricated for a whole working lifetime. krone.de/ xtrablatt-videos A word about the rotors: Three different rotor diameters are offered with five, six or seven tines. Why is this? Well, each rotor diameter offers its own special advantage. The small rotor is especially suitable for hay because each tine has to lift and give up less material. This delivers a Support wheel tyre pressure should be between 1.5 and 2 bar. 24

Krone calendar TIME TRIP What happens when real power women are professionally photographed to a background of old farm machinery? The 2017 Krone calendar marks the passage of the year with fabulous photos! This year marks a very special double jubilee: Krone celebrates the 110th anniversary of its founding in Spelle. And in August there was a meeting once again of twelve tough ladies for photo shooting in preparation of the 2017 Krone calendar – the tenth year of production! And incidentally, this marked the fourth time that the calendar was produced in cooperation with the Federal Association of Machinery Rings. It is therefore fitting that the subject theme selected this time around concerned old farm machinery and historical sites from the history of Maschinenfabrik Bernard Krone. And naturally Spelle provided a fitting location. Among the motifs are a vintage Hanomag Rekord car as well as an old Hanomag Robust. Once again to be found in the calendar are photos representing milestones in the company history including an old forge – quasi nucleus of today’s machinery factory. Also on display: antique household appliances which, 100 years ago, represented a further production pillar of the firm run by Anna and Bernard Krone, alongside blacksmith business, machinery production and guesthouse and nowadays to be seen in the 2016-opened Krone Museum. Captivating is also the contrast between some calendar motifs, for instance an old Deutz F2M with double knife bar mower with a BiG M as background. Or a KR 150 as one of the very first Krone round balers in contrast to a modern Fortima. Thanks to the professional support from photographer Detlev Albrink, makeup artist Kirsten Lumma and project manager Heike Hartmann, initial nervousness amongst our lay models was quickly soothed. Thematically, the new calendar is certainly in vivid contrast to the 2015 calendar motif “La Dolce Vita”, although the photo shooting proved that historical backgrounds can also provide a lot of fun. During the three-day photo session all twelve ladies clearly enjoyed themselves, as shown by the “Making-of” film that can be seen in Krone T-Vision. The result of the all-round successful photoshoot is a collection of twelve very appealing motifs and a limited production calendar that will certainly be quickly snapped up! krone.de/ xtrablatt-videos 25
